Judge Unleashes Fury on Trump Admin for Deportation Scandal — Demands Urgent Action by April 23!

A U.S. judge has come down hard on Donald Trump’s administration for how it’s been handling a case involving a man who was wrongly deported. The man, Kilmar Ábrego Garcia, is a father from Maryland who was mistakenly sent to El Salvador by the U.S. government. They’ve already admitted the deportation was a mistake, but since then, the Trump administration has not been cooperative with the court.

The judge in charge of the case, Paula Xinis, said that Trump’s team has been acting in bad faith. That means they haven’t been honest or fair in the way they’ve dealt with the court. Instead of helping the case move forward, they’ve been using unclear and unproven legal excuses to avoid handing over important information. According to the judge, they’ve been trying to hide behind these vague claims of “privilege” as a way to dodge responsibility.

This kind of behavior has made it harder for the court to figure out exactly what happened and what needs to be done to fix it. Because of this, the judge has now ordered the government to give daily updates about what actions they’re taking to help bring Garcia back to the U.S.

The administration has argued that they no longer have control over Garcia because he’s in another country, but the judge isn’t buying that. She pointed out that the U.S. government still has the ability to work with officials in El Salvador to try and help Garcia return. In other words, just because he’s not on U.S. soil anymore doesn’t mean the government can throw up its hands and say, “He’s not our problem.”

Judge Xinis called their behavior not just careless but intentional. She believes they are deliberately refusing to follow the court’s orders. Because of that, she gave them a strict deadline — by 6 p.m. on April 23, 2025, they must respond to all of the court’s questions and provide a proper explanation for why they’ve been withholding information.

Legal experts and reporters described the judge’s written order as “blistering” and “scathing,” which means it was very harsh and showed how frustrated the court is with the Trump administration’s behavior. The judge made it clear: if the government makes a mistake that seriously affects someone’s life, like wrongly deporting them, they can’t just avoid responsibility or slow down the legal process. The court wants answers, and it wants action.
