Vice President Kamala Harris shared a photo from Jimmy Carter’s funeral on social media, showing several current and former presidents and their spouses paying their respects. However, the picture caused an uproar because President-elect Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump were missing from it.
In the photo, Harris stood with her hand over her heart, like everyone else. But Trump’s supporters quickly accused her of cutting him and Melania out of the image on purpose. Trump and Melania were reportedly standing next to former President Barack Obama, but they didn’t appear in the shot Harris shared.
Some of Trump’s fans called the move “childish” and “petty,” while others said Harris was being a “sore loser” after Trump defeated her in the recent election.
However, other photos from the funeral show that people like former President George W. Bush were also missing or partly hidden in certain pictures.
Many believe the cropping was not intentional but simply due to the photographer’s angle. One commenter explained, “I think it just happened because of where the photographer was standing. Don’t make this into something it’s not.”
At the same funeral, Trump also made headlines for being seen chatting and laughing with Obama. This moment surprised some people, given their past disagreements. Trump later joked about it, saying, “It looked like we liked each other. Maybe we do. We just think differently.”
While the photo controversy might not have been deliberate, it highlights how easily political tensions can turn small issues into big debates. Many people are now urging others to think twice before jumping to conclusions about what they see online.
