Mel Gibson went off on sex trafficking during a Tuesday visit to President-elect Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago for a gala also attended by Kid Rock, Tucker Carlson, and others.
Video of Gibson speaking at the America’s Future Champions For America Celebration Gala quickly spread on social media. In his remarks to the crowd, the filmmaker saluted Michael Flynn, a retired who served as Trump’s National Security Advisor and is known for pushing conspiracy theories, and warned he’d have to “kill someone” if one of his nine children became a victim of sex trafficking.
Gibson called Trump’s incoming administration a “four year grace period” after living under “thinly-veiled Marxism” with President Joe Biden.
“Now we have what I think is a four-year grace period, but we have to work hard… and I don’t know, the president’s got a big job on his hands to turn this place around; a lot of damage has been done. They continue to start fires, just like around my house, but I’d like to thank what the general here is doing, he’s no small part of this,” the Lethal Weapon star said.
He applauded Flynn for his work against sex trafficking, saying he is “exposing all these wolves in sheep’s clothing that prey upon our young.”
“I have nine kids. If one of them got stolen or trafficked or something, I’d have to kill someone,” the filmmaker said to applause from the crowd.
Gibson executive produced the hit move Sound of Freedom in 2023, a film focused around global sex trafficking of children.
The sold-out gala costs between $3800 and $5000, according to the website.
Gibson closed his remarks by saying he hopes Trump can “claw” away power from the “philistines” once he’s back in the White House.
“I hope in the next four years we can get back some of that precious commodity that this country has, that commodity called freedom, alright?” he said. “We’ll see how much this administration can claw back from the philistines.”
