Melania Trump, wife of President-elect Donald Trump, shared why their son Barron, 18, doesn’t have a typical college life.

“He can’t be a normal student because his college experience is very different from others,” Melania said on Fox and Friends Friday. “I’m proud of how he’s handling it. He’s strong and understands his situation is unique.”

Barron started at New York University’s Stern Business School this fall after graduating from Oxbridge Academy in Florida. On his first day of class in September, he arrived with security guards.

Melania, 54, revealed the advice she gave her son: “Follow your dreams. This is your life—listen to yourself and what you like or dislike.”

Melania described Barron as a “grown young man” and praised his knowledge, especially in politics. She mentioned his role in Donald Trump’s 2024 presidential campaign, saying he helped attract young voters and advised his father on reaching their generation.

“Barron recommended podcasts for his father to appear on, and it was a huge success,” she said. Thanks to Barron’s suggestions, Donald Trump appeared on popular shows like Adin Ross’s stream, Theo Von’s This Past Weekend, Flagrant, and the PBD Podcast.

Donald Trump, 78, acknowledged his son’s advice, recalling Barron saying, “Dad, he’s big,” before the interview with Theo Von. Campaign adviser Jason Miller praised Barron’s input, calling his podcast recommendations “ratings gold.”

Donald Trump ultimately defeated Kamala Harris in the 2024 election, winning both the popular vote and the Electoral College by a wide margin.
