A Las Vegas man has been charged with murder after he allegedly took psychedelic mushrooms and killed a person in his apartment, according to authorities
Around 7:00 a.m. on March 12, police said Paul Abercrombie, 21, arrived at University Medical Center in Las Vegas with a gunshot wound to his cheek, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department said.
According to hospital staff, Abercrombie said he took mushrooms and the last thing he remembered was making music with friends.
Investigators spoke with a witness, who claimed Abercrombie called her earlier that morning and said he was “f***** up off shrooms.” He told the witness that someone tried to rob him and he ended up killing that person, police said.
After the alleged revelation, the witness and another person headed over to Abercrombie’s apartment and saw blood all over the residence, police said. They found Abercrombie in a bedroom, but he pointed a gun at the pair as soon when he saw them and they left the apartment, according to police.
Police later spotted Abercrombie walking outside the apartment, but when they tried to stop him, he fled into the back seat of the witness’ car, KOMO reported. The witness told police she would take him to UMC, police said
On the trip to the hospital, Abercrombie allegedly told the witness that he was making music with his friend from high school, 20-year-old Christopher McCary, and McCary tried to rob him, so he shot McCary, KOMO reported.
After going to the apartment, officers said they found McCary’s body with a knife in his back and several gunshot wounds. The Clark County Coroner’s office performed an autopsy and confirmed McCary died from multiple gunshot and stabbing injuries.
Officers reported there were no signs of a struggle inside the apartment.
Abercrombie was arrested and charged with murder, officials said. He was booked into the Clark County Detention Center without bond.
