Obama Judge Goes Full Theater Kid, Declares It ‘Unconstitutional’ for Trump to Pull Security Clearances

A federal judge named Beryl Howell, who was appointed by President Obama, recently ruled that former President Donald Trump didn’t have the authority to take away security clearances from a private law firm, Perkins Coie. This law firm had been linked to efforts against Trump during the 2016 election, including the controversy over Russian interference.

In her ruling, Judge Howell criticized the executive order that removed the firm’s clearance, saying it violated several constitutional rights, including freedom of speech and due process. She even quoted Shakespeare in her decision, comparing Trump’s actions to an old line from a play about killing lawyers. Her point was that the executive order was more about political revenge than national security.

The judge argued that the move wasn’t just about protecting classified information, but about punishing a group that had opposed Trump politically. She said it amounted to coercion and overreach by the executive branch. She also criticized other law firms that chose to keep quiet or cooperate with the administration to keep their own clearances.

Supporters of Trump see this as yet another example of judges going too far and interfering with presidential powers. They argue that the president should be able to decide who can access classified information, especially if that group was involved in political attacks. Critics of Judge Howell believe she has a history of making rulings that go against Trump and his allies, including her involvement in the Mueller investigation and the January 6th cases.

The decision is likely to be appealed and may eventually end up in the Supreme Court. People who support stronger presidential authority think the highest court needs to step in and settle the issue before more legal confusion spreads. There are growing concerns that if lower court judges keep blocking presidential decisions like this, future presidents might simply start ignoring court rulings altogether, which could create a serious constitutional crisis.
