People outraged at Donald Trump’s response when asked if he needs to uphold the constitution

Donald Trump is facing criticism for his recent comments about the U.S. Constitution and his role in upholding it as President. During an interview with NBC News, he was asked if every person in the U.S.

should have due process  a basic legal right protected by the Constitution. Instead of giving a clear answer, Trump said he wasn’t sure because he’s not a lawyer. He repeated several times that he didn’t know and said he would rely on his legal team to follow the Supreme Court’s interpretation.

This came in the context of Trump’s controversial mass deportation policy, where many people are being sent to a massive prison in El Salvador. The Supreme Court temporarily allowed him to use an old World War II law to support these deportations, but also said the people being deported must be given a chance to fight their removal.

When asked if he still needed to respect the Constitution as President, especially with these deportations happening, Trump again said he didn’t know, and stressed that he was elected to remove dangerous people like murderers and drug dealers from the country. He argued that following due process for millions of people would be too difficult and time-consuming.

His comments sparked outrage online. Some people said that admitting he doesn’t understand his responsibilities is at least honest, while others pointed out that upholding the Constitution is literally part of the President’s job.

In the same interview, Trump was also asked about the idea of running for a third term, which the Constitution does not allow. He claimed that a lot of people have asked him to consider it, but admitted he wasn’t sure what the law says about it either. Still, he said he hopes to serve four more years and then hand over the role to another strong Republican.
