Former U.S. President Donald Trump has sent a strong warning to Russian President Vladimir Putin. He said Putin has just one and a half to two weeks to show the world that he is serious about ending the war in Ukraine. Trump said this war has gone on for too long, and too many innocent people are dying for no good reason. He believes it’s time for Putin to either act like a responsible leader or face the consequences. Trump didn’t say exactly what those consequences would be, but his message was very clear—he’s losing patience.
Trump didn’t hold back his feelings. On his social media platform, Truth Social, he called Putin “absolutely CRAZY” and accused him of killing people unnecessarily. Trump said missiles and drones are being fired into Ukrainian cities, destroying homes, and ending lives, all without a clear reason. He said watching those rockets hit peaceful places is heartbreaking, and it needs to stop.
Trump told reporters that soon everyone will know whether Putin is being honest about wanting peace or if he’s just wasting time. Trump said, “If he’s playing games, we’ll respond in a different way,” but he didn’t explain what that meant. He also said he doesn’t know if Putin really wants the war to end, but he’ll have an answer in about two weeks.
At the same time, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has warned that Russia is getting ready for a major attack. Reports say Russia has gathered nearly 40,000 soldiers at the border, which has caused a lot of fear and tension. Many people believe Putin is planning something big, and it could lead to even more destruction.
Trump had once promised that if he returned to office, he would stop the war in Ukraine on his very first day. But now he admits that the situation is more complicated than he thought. He said this war isn’t his problem anymore. Instead, he blames Putin, Zelensky, and President Joe Biden. Trump seems to want to step away from the conflict and let others deal with it.
The Russian government, however, is not happy with Trump’s comments. Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said that Putin has no interest in talking to Trump right now, especially while the war is still going on. He also said that Trump’s statements might have come from a place of strong emotion, given how serious the situation is.
While Trump and others are speaking out, things are getting worse in Ukraine. Russian forces have captured at least six villages along the border. Putin says he wants a “buffer zone” between Russia and Ukraine, which means taking more land to make Russia feel more secure. But this has only led to more violence. Ukrainian officials said that the latest attacks from Russia have been some of the deadliest since the full war started in February 2022. At least 12 people have been killed recently, and many others hurt.
Even though Trump has been loud with his words, there’s no sign that Russia is pulling back. The war continues, people are suffering, and the world is waiting to see what Putin will do next. Trump says we’ll know in two weeks if Putin is serious about peace—but for now, nothing has changed.
