Sad reason why Meghan Markle and Prince Harry hide Archie and Lilibet’s faces

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have always been careful about keeping their family life private, especially since having their two children, Archie in 2019 and Lilibet in 2021. After stepping away from royal duties and moving to California in 2020, the couple has been even more protective of their kids’ privacy.

For instance, in their Christmas card last year, the children’s faces were not visible. The card featured a photo of Archie and Lilibet running toward their parents, but their backs were to the camera. Similarly, in their Netflix documentary released in 2022, the children were briefly shown playing at home, but since then, their faces have been hidden in public appearances.

A family friend explained why Meghan and Harry avoid showing their children’s faces. “Every parent wants to share their kids with the world, but they can’t,” the friend told *US Weekly*. They added that while William’s children have more security, the same level of protection doesn’t apply to Archie and Lilibet. “They know the world wants to see [the children], but it’s unlikely unless things change.”

Meghan herself has spoken about their decision to keep their kids out of the spotlight. In an interview with CBS, she said, “Our kids are three and five. They’re amazing. But as parents, all we want to do is protect them. We see the issues in the online space, and we want to help create positive change.”

The couple’s careful approach to privacy was also evident in their 2022 and 2023 holiday photos, which only featured Meghan and Harry, not the children. Despite their efforts, Meghan and Harry continue to balance their public roles with their desire to keep their family life out of the limelight.

Additionally, Meghan recently faced criticism about her upcoming Netflix show, *With Love, Meghan*. A friend, chef Adrian Lipscombe, defended her, calling her a gracious and kind person who values meaningful conversations about family and food.
