A woman from Maryland is in serious legal trouble after police say she shot and killed her husband during a heated argument at their home in Bowie. The incident happened early Saturday morning, and the situation quickly turned from a domestic dispute into a deadly tragedy.

The woman, identified as 50-year-old Nicole Lanett Ward, is accused of killing her husband, 53-year-old Damian Ward. According to the police, Nicole became extremely upset after she reportedly found photos and text messages that led her to believe her husband was having an affair with someone else. These messages and images seem to have suggested to her that he was involved in a romantic relationship outside of their marriage.

After making this discovery, things escalated quickly between the couple. The argument became intense and eventually violent. Police say Nicole ended up shooting Damian during the confrontation. Officers were called to their house on Old Chapel Road around 1:45 in the morning. When they arrived, they found Damian inside the home with a gunshot wound. Despite their efforts, he had already died by the time they got there.

Nicole Ward has since been arrested and is now facing multiple serious charges. She has been formally charged with both first-degree and second-degree murder, along with other related offenses. These charges indicate that police believe there was intent involved, or at least reckless actions that led to Damian’s death. She is currently being held without the possibility of bail at the Department of Corrections, meaning she will remain in custody as the legal process continues.

Investigators believe the shooting happened in the middle of a domestic fight that spiraled out of control. They are still trying to piece together all the details and circumstances that led to the deadly shooting. At this point, they are asking the public for help. Anyone who might know anything that could be useful to the case is being urged to contact the Prince George’s County Police Homicide Unit at 301-516-2512.

This case is an example of how quickly emotions, especially when mixed with suspicions of infidelity, can lead to irreversible and devastating consequences. What may have started as an argument over trust ended with the loss of a life and the likely permanent destruction of a family.
