Fox News contributor Tammy Bruce strongly criticized President Joe Biden on Monday, calling him a “jerk” after he made comments about former President Donald Trump learning from the example of late President Jimmy Carter. Biden suggested that Trump should follow Carter’s legacy of “decency” as he prepares for a possible second term.
Jimmy Carter passed away on Sunday at his home in Georgia at the age of 100 after spending nearly two years in hospice care. Biden honored Carter in a statement and spoke about him during a press conference later that day. When a reporter asked if Trump could learn anything from Carter, Biden repeatedly used the word “decency” in his response.
Biden said, “Decency. Decency. Decency.” He explained further, saying, “Can you imagine Jimmy Carter walking past someone in need and ignoring them? Or calling someone names based on how they look or speak? I can’t imagine that. I just can’t.”
However, Tammy Bruce, speaking on Fox’s *Outnumbered*, criticized Biden for his remarks, saying they were disrespectful and typical of his behavior. She described Biden as someone who has always been mean-spirited, despite portraying himself as a kind and unifying leader.
“It’s embarrassing for Joe Biden,” Bruce said. “He had this gritted-teeth tone that he’s known for, and instead of using this moment to honor Jimmy Carter or even show respect to President Trump, he decided to attack. Biden has been acting like this for 50 years. He’s a jerk, plain and simple. If he really cared about decency, maybe he should follow his own advice.”
Bruce continued, saying Biden had an opportunity to set a good example by being generous and respectful. “This was a chance to bring people together, to be kind and gracious. Americans may not always agree politically, but we are all part of the same country. Instead, Biden chose to make a divisive comment, and it’s what people have come to expect from him. He’s mean, he’s a bully, and it’s disappointing.”
Bruce also criticized Biden’s image as a “unifier,” saying it doesn’t match his behavior. “Biden was supposed to be the nice guy, the one who could bring people together. But what we see is someone who is mean and divisive. It’s a shame because it makes him look bad, and it hurts the country as a whole.”
Bruce’s comments reflect growing frustrations among some who feel Biden is not living up to his promises of unity and decency. Instead, they see his remarks as another example of unnecessary political attacks.
