A woman in Texas has been arrested after she allegedly gave birth on a toilet, put the newborn in a mop bucket outside of her home and then went to bed, according to authorities.

On March 15, deputies were called to a residence in Lindale for a report of a deceased infant, KYTX-TV reported.

At the scene, officers found the deceased baby wrapped in a towel laying next to a mop bucket, officials said.

According to the affidavit, the baby’s mother, Jazzlyn Nukenya Cooper-Holmes, 23, told police she gave birth to the baby around 4:00 a.m. on March 12 while standing over a toilet “so that the baby would go into the toilet,” KPVI-TV reported.

To prepare for the birth, Cooper-Holmes pre-ordered bedsheets, feminine hygiene products and Tylenol, court records show.

Investigators said the baby went into the toilet head-first and Cooper-Holmes only looked at the baby once before wrapping the child in a towel and putting the baby inside a mop bucket.

She then allegedly went outside and placed the baby on the ground, KPVI-TV reported.

After delivering, Cooper-Holmes headed back inside and reportedly cleaned up the bathroom before going outside again to check to see if the baby was alive, KPVI-TV stated.

She returned to her bedroom, and after falling asleep, she never went back outside again to check on the newborn, officials said.

According to the affidavit, Cooper-Holmes contacted the baby’s suspected father via Snapchat, saying, “I was pregnant. … That can’t happen again. I can’t be pregnant.”
