One of the most haunting features of Old Cahawba is its slave burial ground. You’ll reach this burial ground via a trail. According to reports, it was created in 1819. Sadly, many of the buried bodies here don’t have headstones, so you could be walking over their gravesites and not even know it. The last burial supposedly took place in 1957.
