The View’s Whoopi Goldberg Calls Out Trump After ABC Execs Reportedly Told Her To “Tone Down” The Trump Hate: “You Are Blatantly Giving The Country The Middle Finger

Whoopi Goldberg had some strong words for Donald Trump during an episode of *The View. She accused him of constantly showing disrespect to the Black community, comparing his actions to someone keeping their middle finger up all the time.
She was especially upset over Trump’s repeated claims that there’s a so-called “white genocide” happening in South Africa—something she firmly says is completely false.
The conversation on the show started when the hosts talked about Trump’s meeting with South African President Cyril Ramaphosa. During that meeting, Trump confronted Ramaphosa about what he claimed was the unfair and violent treatment of white farmers in South Africa.
He even started speeding up the process to let white South Africans move to the U.S. more easily, acting like they were refugees escaping some kind of mass violence.
Whoopi pushed back hard on that idea. She made it clear there is no genocide going on in South Africa against white people. She said, like in many parts of the world, South Africa does deal with crime, but it’s not about hunting down or wiping out white people.
She almost cursed to show how ridiculous she thought Trump’s claim was, but she caught herself mid-sentence when the microphone cut out briefly. When the sound came back, she laughed and joked that the interruption was just gas, making light of the moment but still clearly frustrated.
But Whoopi didn’t stop at just debunking the white genocide story. She brought up another issue Trump allegedly accepted a private luxury jet from Qatar, which she said is completely against the rules for someone in his position. She actually pulled out her own copy of the U.S.
Constitution and pointed to the part that says presidents aren’t allowed to accept gifts like that from foreign governments. She reminded everyone that taking that kind of gift isn’t just shady, it’s unconstitutional. “You’re not supposed to have the plane!” she repeated with disbelief and frustration.
She also seemed to address some behind-the-scenes tension. Reports had come out that the bosses at ABC wanted the show to be less political and focus more on celebrity news and entertainment. But Whoopi pushed back on that too.
She said the show can do both they can talk about pop culture and still speak the truth about what’s going on in the world. She said when someone, especially a former president, is openly doing things that go against the country’s values, they have every right to call it out. She made it clear she wouldn’t stay silent just because it might make some people uncomfortable.
Joy Behar added her opinion by saying that letting more white South Africans into the U.S. while ignoring so many people of color who need help could be seen as a direct insult to the Black community.
Whoopi responded that she didn’t see it as a new insult because, in her eyes, that middle finger has always been up. In other words, she feels that Trump’s actions have never really shown care or respect for the Black community, and this was just another example of that ongoing pattern.
The entire discussion showed how passionate the hosts were about telling the truth and standing up for what they believe is right, even if it means going against powerful people or the expectations of their own network. The View continues to be a place where these tough conversations happen every weekday on ABC.
