Trump calls on House Republicans to ‘think about expelling’ Dem impeachment backers

Former President Donald Trump is very upset with Democrats in Congress who are trying to impeach him again. He went on social media and angrily criticized two Democrats who support the new impeachment effort. He called them “crazy” and said they don’t have any respect in Congress. Trump claimed they’ve been trying to impeach him over and over again, even though they can’t say exactly what he’s done wrong this time.

He said the Democrats are out of control and are acting like they’ve lost their minds. He mocked them for focusing on impeachment instead of dealing with real problems in the country. He pointed out things like the crisis at the U.S. border, high inflation, the messy exit from Afghanistan, and the war in Ukraine. He also blamed them for making it easier for Iran to get rich again, which he believes helped lead to the attack on Israel last October.

Trump was reacting to Representative Shri Thanedar from Michigan, who had just announced that he filed seven articles of impeachment against him. Thanedar says Trump should be impeached for several reasons, including deporting a man accused of being a dangerous gang member and for budget cuts done by Elon Musk’s department, which he believes were not legal.

Only one other Democrat, Representative Jan Schakowsky from Illinois, has signed on to support Thanedar’s impeachment plan. Trump didn’t mention their names, but it was clear who he was talking about. He said Republicans in Congress should think about kicking those Democrats out because of all the “crimes” they’ve supposedly committed, especially around elections. Trump accused them of trying to divide the country and not letting it recover.

He said it’s unfair that Democrats keep trying to use impeachment as a weapon against him, especially when he believes he’s working hard to fix the country. He compared it to what happened during his first term as president, when he was impeached twice. Trump warned that this time, Republicans won’t let it happen without a fight.

He also said that maybe Republicans should turn the tables and try to remove Democrats from Congress for what he called “real crimes.” He described the Democrats behind the impeachment as people who hate the country and everything it stands for.

Not long after Thanedar filed the impeachment papers, three other Democrats who had first agreed with him changed their minds. Representatives Jerry Nadler from New York, Robin Kelly from Illinois, and Kweisi Mfume from Maryland asked to have their names removed from the impeachment resolution. They each went to the House floor and officially asked to be taken off the list, and their requests were approved.

A spokesperson for Mfume said he pulled his support after learning the resolution hadn’t gone through the proper legal and party review. Robin Kelly’s office said she had thought the resolution was checked and approved by party leaders and legal teams before she signed it. Nadler’s office didn’t comment at all when asked about the situation.

Overall, this new impeachment push doesn’t seem to have strong support, even among Democrats. Meanwhile, Trump is using it as a chance to fire back and rally his supporters by saying he’s being unfairly targeted once again.
