Trump Explains His Comments About PRO-LIFE VOTERS: ‘I Just Didn’t See Them Fighting During This Last Election’ (Video)

President Donald Trump addressed his past comments about pro-life involvement in the 2022 midterm elections, heralding the demise of Roe v. Wade last June and lamenting the lack of pro-life energy going into November’s Election Day. “I was a little disappointed because I thought they could have fought much harder…a lot of them didn’t fight or weren’t around to fight,” he said.

Trump’s comments were made during an interview with Dave Brody on “The Water Cooler” with Real America’s Voice.

Brody asked him about his comments a few weeks ago on Truth Social, where the president talked about the “abortion issue” being one mechanism why Republicans may have underperformed in certain areas during the midterms.

“It wasn’t my fault that the Republicans didn’t live up to expectations in the MidTerms,” Trump previously wrote. “…It was the ‘abortion issue,’ poorly handled by many Republicans, especially those that firmly insisted on No Exceptions, even in the case of Rape, Incest, or Life of the Mother, that lost large numbers of voters. Also, the people that pushed so hard, for decades, against abortion, got their wish from the U.S. Supreme Court, & just plain disappeared, not to be seen again.”

Addressing that specific comment, Trump explained that he “just didn’t see them [pro-lifers] fighting during the last election. I didn’t see rallies, I didn’t see protests. The only rallies were the rallies I gave…but the other side was fighting.”

He noted that the overturning of Roe v. Wade energized the Democrats but oddly didn’t seem to have the same effect on Republicans who had been longing for the reversal of the abortion ruling for decades.

President Trump also clarified that in the context of the “three exceptions” for abortion (rape, incest, and the life of the mother), “it’s very hard to get elected if you’re not in favor of the three exceptions.”

However, he added, “You have to go with your own heart” on the issue.

Further, Trump pointed out that nobody had done more for the pro-life movement than he had. In fact, when asked why megachurch preachers like Pastor Robert Jeffress had not yet given Trump their endorsement ahead of 2024, Trump said, “Well, I really don’t care…that’s a sign of disloyalty. Nobody has ever done more for Right to Life than Donald Trump.”
