Trump Hits Back After Reporter Claims Joe Biden Thinks He Could’ve Beaten Him – Here’s What He Said (Video)
President-elect Donald Trump spoke to reporters outside his New Year’s Eve gala at Mar-a-Lago, addressing various topics, including a report claiming President Joe Biden regrets stepping out of the 2024 presidential race because he believes he could have beaten Trump.
As Americans celebrated New Year’s Eve in different ways, popular shows lit up television screens. ABC aired Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve, a long-time favorite, while NBC featured The Day Drinking with Seth Meyers New Year’s Special. CBS offered a country-themed celebration with Nashville’s Big Bash. On cable, MSNBC aired reruns, Fox News hosted Jimmy Failla’s All-American New Year’s Bash, and CNN entertained viewers with Anderson Cooper and Andy Cohen’s lively antics on New Year’s Eve Live.
Meanwhile, Trump’s gala at Mar-a-Lago drew attention as he and First Lady Melania Trump walked the red carpet. Reporters asked a range of questions, from lighthearted ones about New Year’s resolutions to more serious political topics.
One reporter asked Trump about a Washington Post article revealing that Biden, in private conversations, expressed regret for leaving the race, thinking he could have defeated Trump.
Trump replied confidently, saying, “We’re doing a great job with amazing people, and you’ll all be very happy with what we’ve accomplished.”
When asked about his New Year’s resolutions for 2025, Trump kept it simple: “I just want everyone to be happy, healthy, and doing well. Thank you.”
The reporter pressed further, referencing Biden’s supposed regrets:
“Biden reportedly thinks he could’ve beaten you. What do you say to that?”
Trump responded, “Well, he was way behind. I don’t think he would’ve had a chance. He was far behind her [referring to another opponent]. We won in record numbers—every swing state, and the popular vote by millions. I wish him well, but he had his chance. He performed poorly in the debates, and that didn’t work out for him. That was probably the main reason for his downfall.”
The evening was a mix of celebration and reflection, as people across the country welcomed the New Year. For some, it was a time to make resolutions, even if they wouldn’t last long. For others, like media figures, it was a chance to look back on their achievements—like being featured on Mediaite’s Most Influential in Media 2024 list—and raise a glass of bubbly or a mocktail to the year ahead. At Mar-a-Lago, Trump showed his usual confidence and optimism, ready to step into 2025 with his supporters behind him.
