“We are going to be changing — the opposite of Biden closing everything up and getting rid of 50 to 60 trillion worth of assets — we’ll be changing the name of the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America, which has a beautiful ring,” Trump said. “That covers a lot of territory. The Gulf of America. What a beautiful name. It is appropriate. It’s appropriate.”
Trump’s proposal is in line with his often-nationalistic rhetoric and his history of blaming Mexico for the U.S.’s immigration challenges. The idea seemed to come out of the blue for most people, as neither Trump nor his team had hinted at it before. However, those closely following Trump ally Jack Posobiec on social media may have had an inkling, as Posobiec floated the concept about two and a half weeks ago.
