Trump’s Attorney Insisted That Joe Biden Cheated Donald Trump, You Won’t Believe What Happened
Senator Mazie Hirono questioned Pam Bondi, Trump’s Attorney General nominee, during a hearing about the results of the 2020 presidential election. Joe Biden won the election, but Donald Trump has continued to claim that the loss was due to fraud, even though many senior officials from his own administration have called these claims false and baseless.
Pam Bondi, who previously served as Florida’s Attorney General, was chosen to replace Matt Gaetz as Trump’s nominee for the top law enforcement position in the country.
Despite her loyalty to Trump, Bondi admitted during the hearing that Biden is the president and said she accepts the election results. However, when pressed further, she avoided directly stating that Biden won or that Trump lost, which raised concerns among the senators present.
The exchange became tense when Hirono asked Bondi a direct question: “Who won the 2020 presidential election?” Bondi’s response was, “Joe Biden is the president.” Hirono then pointed out that Bondi couldn’t clearly say who won the election. When Bondi remained silent, Hirono called it disturbing that she refused to acknowledge the truth outright.
After the hearing, CNN journalist Marshall Cohen commented on social media, highlighting Bondi’s reluctance to say the words “Trump lost.” Cohen also pointed out that Bondi falsely claimed there had been a peaceful transfer of power following the election and avoided addressing Trump’s controversial descriptions of Capitol rioters as “hostages” and “patriots.” This refusal to provide clear answers and her defense of Trump’s actions and rhetoric have drawn criticism from many, including Hirono, who found her lack of straightforwardness troubling.
