Trump’s FBI Pick Wants to Turn Hoover Building Into a ‘Deep State Museum’ – Jake Tapper Confronts GOP Senator!

CNN’s Jake Tapper questioned a Republican Senator about his support for quickly approving President-elect Donald Trump’s security team picks, highlighting some controversial plans.

During an interview on State of the Union, Tapper played a clip of Trump’s FBI Director nominee Kash Patel, who said he wanted to close the FBI’s Hoover Building and turn it into a “museum of the deep state.” Patel argued the FBI had become too big and said he would relocate its 7,000 employees across the country to focus on fighting crime.

Tapper pointed out that many of those employees already work on important cases like terrorism and disasters. Senator Jim Banks defended Patel, saying the FBI leadership had been too focused on political issues, such as targeting parents at school board meetings, instead of preventing attacks like the one in New Orleans, where the suspect reportedly had ties to ISIS content online.

Tapper also brought up another nominee, Pete Hegseth, Trump’s choice for Secretary of Defense. He asked Banks about a 2017 sexual assault allegation against Hegseth, which Hegseth denies and was never charged for.

Banks, who is new to the Senate Armed Services Committee, avoided addressing the allegation directly but fully supported Hegseth. He praised him as a qualified combat veteran and criticized the current Defense Secretary, Lloyd Austin, for his handling of issues like the Afghanistan withdrawal. Banks expressed confidence that Hegseth would succeed in the role.
