Trump’s unbelievable response to Elon Musk after he publicly criticized ‘big, beautiful bill’

Elon Musk has officially stepped down from his government role just one day after publicly criticizing a major policy supported by Donald Trump. The move has sparked widespread speculation that tensions may be growing between the two powerful figures.
Musk had been leading the Department of Government Efficiency, but he handed in his resignation on May 28, a few days before his term was set to end. His decision came shortly after a CBS interview aired where he openly criticized a new Republican spending bill that Trump strongly backed.
In the interview, Musk said he was disappointed with the bill. He argued that instead of cutting unnecessary expenses, the bill actually increased the country’s debt. He added that while a bill can be either “big” or “beautiful,” he didn’t believe it could be both. Musk was referring to Trump’s description of the legislation as the “big, beautiful bill.”
The controversial bill includes a major boost in defense funding, including Trump’s idea of building a “Golden Dome” a high-tech shield to protect the U.S. from missile attacks. It also introduces multi-trillion-dollar tax breaks, which some critics argue favor the wealthy.
When reporters asked President Trump for his thoughts on Musk’s comments, he gave a mixed response. Trump defended the bill, saying it was necessary to secure enough votes and support in Congress. He warned that if the bill hadn’t passed, Americans could have faced a massive tax increase possibly up to 65% and other serious financial problems. He insisted the bill was crucial for delivering what he called the largest tax cut in U.S. history.
Interestingly, Trump also admitted that he wasn’t completely satisfied with every part of the bill. He said there would be further negotiations and that, while some parts were not ideal, others were very exciting especially the tax cuts. This rare moment of self-criticism stood in contrast to Trump’s usual style, as he almost never questions his own policies publicly.
What made the situation even more surprising was the way Trump originally promoted the bill on his Truth Social platform. He had called it “THE ONE, BIG, BEAUTIFUL BILL” and claimed it was possibly the most important law ever passed in American history.
Now, with Musk out of his position and Trump defending a bill that is both costly and controversial, the spotlight is back on their relationship and whether this public disagreement marks the beginning of a deeper political divide.
