An MSNBC host slammed President-elect Donald Trump for hosting a party at Mar-a-Lago on Saturday night, where a film supporting a key ally involved in trying to overturn the 2020 election was shown.
During The Weekend Sunday on MSNBC, Symone Sanders-Townsend strongly criticized the event, which featured the film The Eastman Dilemma: Lawfare or Justice.
The movie was shown to honor John Eastman, who is facing charges in Georgia and Arizona for allegedly helping with schemes to overturn the 2020 election.
“This is disgusting!” Sanders-Townsend said. “It’s sickening. People like Peter Navarro and Jeffrey Clark, who supported lies and encouraged violence against the U.S. government, are not patriots. They’re far from it.”
She went on, “What Donald Trump did last night is an insult to this country and its Constitution. It’s a disgrace.”
Sanders-Townsend explained why the event was such a big deal. “This wasn’t just some party,” she said. “It shows exactly where their values are and what they stand for. Honestly, if Trump had lost the last election, they’d probably have done the same thing all over again.”
Michael Steele, another commentator, also criticized Trump, saying, “It’s just bold and in-your-face. They’re basically celebrating the attempt to overturn an election four years ago. It’s outrageous.”
