Zelenskyy issues chilling warning after Trump announces plans to meet face-to-face with Putin

Donald Trump will meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska next week, marking their first in-person meeting since 2019. The meeting is planned for Friday, August 15, 2025, and will focus on trying to end the war in Ukraine. Trump announced the meeting on his social media platform, saying more details would be shared soon.
Before becoming president again, Trump had claimed he could stop the war within 24 hours of returning to the White House. But despite his efforts, the conflict has continued, with Russia refusing to make concessions.
Reports suggest the White House has been trying to convince European leaders to support a peace plan that would involve Ukraine giving up some of its territory to Russia. This proposal reportedly includes Russia keeping Crimea, which it took in 2014, and possibly holding onto parts of Donbas, Kherson, and Zaporizhzhia.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy strongly rejected the idea of giving away any land. In a statement on Telegram, he said Ukraine’s constitution already makes it clear that its borders cannot be changed. He warned that any deal made without Ukraine’s agreement would not lead to real peace and would ultimately fail.
Trump recently set a deadline for Russia to move toward peace by August 8. He had warned that if there was no progress, he would introduce tougher sanctions on Russia and place extra tariffs on countries buying Russian oil. Now, all eyes are on the Alaska meeting to see if it will lead to any breakthrough in ending the war.
