A repeat offender who was already on probation viciously punched a rookie NYPD officer, knocking her to the ground. But just seconds later, he got a brutal dose of street justice.
The incident happened in the Bronx when 41-year-old Erns Delma got into an argument with a group of kids. Officer Mary Fay, a new officer with just eight months on the job, stepped in to calm things down. But out of nowhere, Delma punched her in the face, sending her crashing onto the sidewalk.
The entire attack was caught on camera. Blood was streaming from Officer Fay’s face as she lay on the ground. Her partner didn’t waste a second—he jumped into action, landing two powerful punches on Delma before wrestling him to the ground.
But Delma didn’t go down easily. He fought back, trying to resist the officers. In the middle of the struggle, his pants and underwear fell down, leaving everyone around shocked and embarrassed for him.
Even after he was arrested, Delma tried to play the victim. He told police that he was drunk and didn’t mean to hit the officer. But the evidence—and the judge—didn’t believe him. He was given a bail of $100,000.
According to police sources, Delma has a long criminal history, including attacks on women and burglaries. In 2022, he was arrested for attacking a woman in Midtown. He’s also on probation in New Jersey and has previously assaulted police officers.
Officer Fay is now recovering from her injuries. However, this attack is yet another example of how repeat offenders are being allowed to roam free. The Police Benevolent Association spoke out strongly, saying that Delma isn’t truly sorry for what he did—he’s just sorry he got caught.
