All Of This Is Nonsense: Donald Trump Rally Boast Shredded By CNN Fact-Checker

At a recent rally in Warren, Michigan, former President Donald Trump made some claims about the elections he’s been in. Speaking to a cheering crowd, he said that he had just won “the biggest victory in Michigan,” and claimed he had won the state not just once or twice, but three times. He told the audience, “We won it twice,” and then added, “We actually won it three times.”

These statements didn’t sit well with fact-checkers, especially CNN’s Daniel Dale, who has spent years correcting false claims made by public figures, especially Trump. Dale responded by saying that even schoolchildren could look up the facts and see that what Trump said wasn’t true.

He explained clearly that Trump only won Michigan two times—once in 2016 and again in 2024. He lost the state in 2020 to Joe Biden by a large margin—more than 150,000 votes. So, there is no way Trump could have won it three times like he claimed.

Dale also pointed out that this kind of false statement isn’t new for Trump. He said that people shouldn’t be surprised that Trump is still spreading lies about elections, even the ones he won.

According to Dale, Trump has a long history of making things up about his election results, and this hasn’t changed even now that he’s back in office. He continues to tell stories that don’t match the facts, hoping people will believe him.

What frustrates Dale and many others is that no matter how often these claims are proven false, Trump keeps repeating them. Dale said, “All of this is nonsense,” and admitted that no amount of fact-checking seems to make Trump stop. He just keeps telling the same misleading stories, and it seems to be part of how he talks to his supporters mixing in exaggerations and things that simply didn’t happen.

In the end, it’s not just about one rally or one speech. It’s about the ongoing problem of false information being spread by someone who holds a lot of influence. People like Daniel Dale are doing their best to keep the facts straight, but as he says, it hasn’t made much difference in changing Trump’s behavior.
