Donald Trump Stuns America With Shocking Announcement About Running for President a Third Time

President Donald Trump gave an interview on NBC’s “Meet the Press,” where he talked about a number of key topics, including the economy, immigration, and whether he plans to run for president again after his current term. The interview took place as Trump marked the first 100 days of his second term in office.

Trump said he doesn’t plan to run for a third term in 2028, even though some of his supporters want him to. He acknowledged that running for a third term isn’t allowed by the Constitution.

However, he still mentioned how strongly people have been asking him to do it and pointed out that his team is selling “Trump 2028” hats. Even though he talked about it in the past, he said he’s focusing on making the most of his current four years and hopes to hand over power to another strong Republican leader afterward.

On the topic of the economy, Trump avoided taking blame for the recent economic slowdown. The U.S. economy shrank slightly in the first quarter of the year.

Instead of accepting responsibility, Trump said the problems started under President Biden, and any positive developments now are because of his own policies. He admitted that things are partially his responsibility now, but insisted the bad parts are due to Biden’s leadership.

Although economists are warning that Trump’s high tariffs could make things more expensive for American consumers, Trump said he’s actually helping lower costs. He pointed out that the stock market has been doing better recently and said that overall, he takes responsibility for everything — but reminded people that he’s only been back in office a short time.

The conversation also touched on a recent Supreme Court ruling that ordered the Trump administration to help return a man named Kilmar Abrego Garcia to the U.S. He had been deported to El Salvador without a proper trial.

When asked if he needs to follow the Constitution in situations like this, Trump said he didn’t know and would rely on his lawyers. He also suggested that giving due process to everyone might mean holding millions of trials, which he implied was unrealistic.

Trump’s team claimed Garcia was part of a violent gang, but Garcia denies this. Critics say the administration is not taking the court’s order seriously and isn’t respecting the Constitution’s rule that everyone deserves a fair process before losing their freedom.

Trump also defended his tariffs by giving an unusual example. He said American children don’t need to own so many dolls, using that to explain why it’s okay if the price of imported toys goes up.

He suggested that kids can make do with fewer toys and school supplies, and that reducing imports would help make the U.S. economy stronger in the long run.

Despite warnings from economic experts that his policies could lead to a recession  because of tariffs, government job cuts, and deportations  Trump said he’s not worried.

He described the situation as a “transition period” and said the U.S. economy will come out stronger. He didn’t deny that a recession could happen but emphasized that he believes the economy is going to be great eventually.

Finally, Trump said that some of the new tariffs might stay in place permanently. He argued that if other countries think the tariffs might be removed soon, they won’t have a reason to invest in American manufacturing. So, in his view, keeping tariffs in place long-term might encourage more businesses to move production to the U.S.
