A mother who spent 7 weeks in a coma after falling ill with COVID while pregnant was welcome to discover that she gave birth to her baby girl, Laura Ward, 33, from Tinsley Wigan. Her condition deteriorated from the virus while pregnant with her daughter Hope.

She was sedated for an emergency C-section at 31 weeks, more than 2 months before her due date of October 15.
