Woman arrested after ‘threatening to assassinate Trump’ and traveling to DC as shocking posts are revealed

A 50-year-old woman has been arrested after allegedly making repeated online threats against former President Donald Trump and then traveling to Washington, D.C. just days later.
Authorities identified the suspect as Nathalie Rose Jones, who was taken into custody in Columbia on Saturday, August 16. According to federal court filings, she faces charges of threatening to kill, kidnap, or inflict bodily harm on the President of the United States, along with transmitting violent threats across state lines.
Investigators say that between August 6 and 15, Jones used Instagram and Facebook to post a string of disturbing messages directed at Trump. On Instagram, under the username nath.jones, she allegedly referred to him as a “terrorist” and described his presidency as a “dictatorship.” She also blamed him for what she called unnecessary loss of life during the coronavirus pandemic.
On Facebook, her posts became even more graphic. In one message reportedly aimed at the FBI, she wrote that she was willing to “sacrificially kill this POTUS by disemboweling him and cutting out his trachea.” In another post, directed to Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, she called for an “arrest and removal ceremony” of Trump at the White House on August 16 — the very same day she traveled to D.C. for a demonstration near Dupont Circle.
Although Jones told the Secret Service during a voluntary interview that she did not intend to harm Trump at that time, she allegedly admitted that she would be willing to kill him “at the compound” if given the chance. Agents also reported that she claimed to have a bladed weapon to carry out what she described as her “mission” to avenge lives lost during the pandemic.
The Department of Justice confirmed that Jones acknowledged ownership of the Facebook account tied to the threats. In a press release, U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro emphasized the gravity of the case, stating:
“Threatening the life of the President is one of the most serious crimes and one that will be met with swift and unwavering prosecution. Make no mistake justice will be served. We extend our deepest gratitude to our law enforcement partners, especially the Secret Service agents from New York and Washington, D.C., for their tireless commitment to protecting our leaders and our nation.”
The Secret Service has taken over the investigation. Jones remains in custody as her case moves forward in federal court.
